Head’s Lines: Continuous improvement

Students returned to St Andrews International School Bangkok to find even more learning spaces than before...The NAE Crisis Management Conference is happening at High School during the early part of the week… The new academic calendar has been approved and set… Rembrandt Studio photos are ready for pick-up at Primary school… Be ready for next year’s flu season by signing-up and reserving your family’s vaccination.

The school was very quickly back to normal last week after the week’s holiday. There were lots of smiling faces and conversations between friends about what they had been up too during the week off and also a real sense of everyone being glad to be back together.

At the High School campus, the new floor of classrooms available for the English Department looks really good and has allowed the High School to spread out into these new areas giving each of the new floors a clear curriculum focus. The final floor to be finished is the art/science floor at the top of the Red Building. We hope to have this handed over later this week and then after some fixed furniture has been built in several of the spaces this will be the new home of our Art Department which I know everyone is really looking forward to.  Also the Science Department will have an additional 6 science laboratories and a preparation room.

Nord Anglia Education Regional Crisis Management Conference

This week our school is hosting the first of this type of event for our region. The Heads of Schools and their key senior staff will come to our school for a two-day conference where we will discuss a whole range of issues that international schools face in this ever-changing world and how we can best be prepared for any crisis event that could take place within our region or individual school. This conference will be led by experts in the field - Hayley Jeans & Angie Wigford from International Educational Psychology Services (IEPS) - who will create and promote discussions that assist each school in the region to draw up comprehensive plans in the event that a tragedy or crisis occurs.

Flu Vaccination in Primary School

We sent home an email last week containing the QR code for the flu vaccination programme being held at the Primary School on  16 November.

To clarify, this is for Primary and High School students, staff, parents and extended family and home helpers.  At 590 baht it is a corporate rate and very reasonably priced.

This year to simplify the process even more, Samitivej will run the booking process online. The system will issue you a booking number which you bring with you on the day of the vaccination. (Payments are to be made on Friday 16 November). Please note that teachers cannot take your child for the vaccination. This has to be done by a parent or guardian.

If you haven’t already registered please consider it now as the deadline for registration is approaching.
