Key Stage 2: Choose Kind in Term 3

KS2 will be looking at different aspects of “What makes a great St Andrews Community”. More information coming soon... We look back at the end of last term and the great Songkran celebrations... We welcome Elizabeth Jarmin back to St Andrews.

It seems like no time since we opened our doors in August, but here we are in the final term of the year. As you’ll see from the dates to remember section below, this term is jam-packed with a range of activities and will certainly keep everyone busy in the lead up to the summer holiday.

Year 6 Expo

On the Tuesday of the final week of last term, Year 6 hosted the first ever KS2 Expo. This was a showcase of their work throughout the year and included examples of children’s work which the children were on hand to discuss with the parents in attendance. The students also had a dance and gymnastics extravaganza to keep parents and fellow students entertained. This was a fantastic event, which replaces the old style year group assembly- allowing the parents to get a better insight into some of what goes on in the classroom throughout the year.

Songkran Celebration

We rounded off last term, as always, with our annual Songkran celebration. The day started with our students and parents giving offering to the monks, which was followed by the Songkran assembly. This was a mixture of student reading and dances, as well as a performance from some visiting drummers. The day ended with water play and ice lollies. Well done to the Thai Department for organising another outstanding assembly.

Elizabeth Jarman Seminar for Parents - Wednesday 25 April

Families who have been with us for a couple of years might remember visits from a consultant from the UK, Elizabeth Jarman. Elizabeth, creator of the Communication Friendly Spaces Approach, is a great friend of St Andrews International School Bangkok and has worked with us in the past developing our school environment to best support communication and language development. Elizabeth will be visiting St Andrews this week and would like to offer a seminar for parents while she is here. This time, she will be talking about “Language and Communication Spaces”. Her talks are especially popular with the parents of our youngest children, but everyone is welcome. There is still time to sign up for this seminar - please complete this very short  questionnaire to help us cater for the event.

The meeting will be held in the Exam Room - Top floor of the R Building (Primary School) at 08.00 am.

Find out more about Elizabeth’s work here.

Sunsafe Reminder

We’re sure that it hasn’t escaped anyone’s attention that the weather in Thailand is incredibly hot at the minute. To help keep the children safe in the hot weather, we ask for your help in reminding them to bring a hat to school every day. We have a strict “No Hat, No Play” policy and children without hats will be asked to stay in shaded areas only. Please make sure that you apply sunscreen as appropriate before the children leave for school. It’s also a good idea to send your children in with a water bottle. We have water bottle refilling stations on every floor in the R Building and in the Y6 quad. This will help your child stay hydrated throughout the day and helps cut down on waste by removing the need for paper cups.

Coming Soon

This term, we are going to be focusing on a few different aspects of the What Makes A Great St Andrews Community which we are going to be grouping under the theme of Choose Kind. Keep an eye out for more details.
