Service Week preparations in progress

Read on to find out about the importance of Service within the CAS programme and how we can support as a community!

service week 2017-2018 central thailand mission

Term 3 sees the main CAS event of the year - Service Week - and this week  our Y12 IB students  will start the daunting task of planning Service Week.

Students will have the opportunity to Meet Debbie Ekner of Central Thailand Mission and develop Direct Service Opportunities and ‘Need’ solutions within the local community.

think global act local

All students across the High School will have the chance to participate in fundraising activities to support and highlight the importance of service to others.

There will also be opportunities for students from different year groups to participate in Service Week alongside CAS students. This will enable some of our younger students to have an in-depth, intuitive understanding of the concept of Service. Enabling them to be stewards for future Service opportunities will help them to fully embrace the ethos of the IB Learner Profile and What Makes a Great St Andrews Student.

Each House will be fundraising for the facilitation of four local Service Week projects and their individually identified needs, providing direct and indirect Service opportunities for all students involved. We will again have “A Week Without” where students can seek sponsorship to raise funds for these Charities by living without something important to them for one week. Thank you to the House team for all their support with this IB CAS Event.  Watch this space for more news and updates on things to come.
