Creating a future free of plastic bags

A St Andrews International School Bangkok student has made it her personal mission to eradicate the use of plastic bags in Thailand.

plastic free mission

Year 6 Lilly has made quite a splash on the international environmental scene. For the past two years, she has made it her personal mission to eradicate the use of plastic bags in Thailand.

On 11 June 2018 she addressed a Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior Event in Phuket advocating the total ban of plastic bags, after a whale was found washed ashore with more than 80 plastic bags in its stomach. She has also met recently with top executives from the Central Retail Group who, with their 250 supermarket branches in Thailand, has committed to provide customers with alternatives to plastic bags.

St Andrews International School Bangkok places a great deal of importance on the issue sustainability which forms a major part of the teaching curriculum across all stages of the school. We congratulate Lilly on taking action on such a globally important issue.
