Counsellors’ Corner: Sarahah App Information for Parents

Our High School Counsellor shares important information about a banned messaging app.

sarahah

Sarahah is a messaging app which has become extremely popular with young people across the world. The word ‘Sarahah’ translates as ‘Honesty’ in Arabic and it encourages users to post honest comments.

Unfortunately young people have  been prone to use this negatively as the comments posted have caused some students to become upset. Sarahah is  anonymous and therefore school can not trace the users leaving negative comments. We would like to encourage parents to check if students are using this messaging app and discourage use; it seems that its mostly used with Instagram stories and Snapchat.

The App has been removed from Apple and Google stores due to complaints, but it is accessible through other sites.

Please see the following reports for help on this app:

Please remember if you are concerned by your child or another young person in our community please reach out to the school counsellors or heads of year.
