Foundation Stage & Key Stage 1: Gaining practical experience in science and survival

Find out about the exciting scientific adventures that happened during Year 1 Science Week...Like their nocturnal namesakes, the Little Owls had a busy evening full of activities and foraging for food (pizza) during their sleep-over.

Year 1 Science Week

Year 1 had a fantastic week last week - the week being filled with exciting scientific investigations. Ms Sarah from Y6 spent some time working with the Y1 students and was really impressed by their scientific thinking and their practical skills, but especially in the way they were able to work together to find solutions.

There were Unicorn Crayons to make, Rapunzel’s Towers to build and Dragon’s eggs that needed protecting, to name but a few of the things the children got up to

Little Owls Sleepover

Hot on the heels of the Y2 Sleepover came the Little Owls Sleepover! This successful ECA has been running for a couple of years now, and is a St Andrews version of Scouts and Girl Guides. Led by Ms Jo and Ms Caroline, the children, from a range of year groups, have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of activities over the ECA block, earning their badges. Some of them have built up quite a collection!

Supported by our celebrity chef (Mr Steve), there were some delicious pizzas made for dinner, and everyone was kept very busy until bedtime.
