It has been great to attend all the “Meet the Teacher” and Parents' Information Evenings which have been held across the school. The final two for Years 12 and 13 will take place on Tuesday 11 September. Each meeting has enjoyed a great atmosphere and a lively discussion with lots of useful information being given.

Thank you to all parents who have attended. I hope you found the meetings useful. They are an important part of building a strong home & school relationship to support your child in their educational development.

International days

As we are starting Week 4, it is amazing how quickly time flies. We will be holding our International Days at the end of this first half term on Friday 12 October in the Primary School and Friday 19 October in High School. I know our PTG is already working hard with the country representatives, setting up the Food Halls and cultural displays for the wide range of nationalities we have in our school community.

During each International Day, there is an Assembly which is a great celebration of the rich diversity of cultures we have within our school community. We have already had several groups approach us wishing to be apart of these assemblies at both Primary and High Schools with a dance or a traditional performance from their home country.

If you would like to be involved we ask that you keep your performance to 5 minutes and please contact either Grape ( in the Primary School Office or Cookie ( in the High School Office. If there is not enough time in the assemblies for all the performances, there is also the chance to perform around school at break time or during lunch time.

Our International Days are always inspiring occasions for our whole school community and I hope you will be able to come along and sample the food in the International Food Halls and witness the colour of all the different national costumes.

Staff training

This week, on Friday 14 September our whole school will be closed for staff training. It is a good time for us to reflect on the start of term and then focus on how we can improve different aspects of our school throughout the rest of this academic year. One area we shall be reviewing was highlighted from our parents survey which was completed by families last academic year. This is that our school does not tell parents often enough about their children’s successes outside of academic progress. Our Seesaw Programme that is being used for every class in Primary is a great way for parents to see the wide range of academic and non-academic successes and challenges their children are undertaking each week at school. This will certainly be discussed next Friday and further reviewed as to how we can further improve its use as a great tool for celebration.

On Friday 28 September we are delighted to be hosting the South East Asian Regional Music Staff Development Training which will be lead by specialist trainers from the New York based Juilliard School of Music. Music teachers from across the region will attend this weekend training along with all of our STA teachers. At several Senior Leadership conferences specialist music teachers from the Juilliard School have provided training to Principals to illustrate how inspirational their music programmes could become through this great relationship. I know these training workshops will be very well received by our teachers and will inspire them to create an even better music programme across our school.

Student Photographs at Primary School

Rembrandt Family Studios will be taking individual and class photographs at the Primary School from Monday 17 September to Friday 21 September 2018. While the photos taken on these days will be published in our yearbook at the end of the academic year, families will also have the opportunity to purchase photos directly from the studio. You can expect to receive more details about this later this week.
