Key Stage 2: Inspiring leadership and success

House Reps and Captains have been revealed at St Andrews International School Bangkok...Find out who won the ‘Wonderful Writer’ Award...International Day is right around the corner…What’s a week without Stars?

School Council and House Reps and Captains

Well done for everyone who stepped up and put themselves forward to be a House rep/captain. It’s great to see so many of our students who want to help make a difference and help inspire and motivate their friends and classmates in KS2. The final choices all got a chance to stand up in Friday’s assembly, which focused on World Peace day and our What Makes a Great St Andrews Community document. You can see the school council reps below. We were also treated to the Peace Day song, which was sung beautifully in both assemblies. You can catch the Y5 & 6 version on our School Facebook page.

Wonderful Writer award

We have our second Wonderful Writer award in KS2. This was given by Ms Fiona who chose Mneme for the award. Year 6 are preparing for a poetry slam competition, which they will be taking part in across at High School next week. Mneme went that extra mile for hers, going home and using a thesaurus to find synonyms to add greater impact to her poem. Well done Mneme

International Day is just around the corner

Somehow, we are in week six of the new school year already, which means that International Day is fast approaching. This will be held on Friday 12th October, a week before the end of the half term.

For those of you who are new to the school this year, on International Day our whole community comes to school wearing their national costume or wearing clothes which represent their country. You are welcome to get dressed up too and come and celebrate with us in our assemblies. This year, we are going to be having two celebratory assemblies in the Sports Hall in the morning for KS2- one at 8.30 am for Y1-3 and one from 9.10 am for Y4-6. As well as a procession of the flags to kick things off, there will also be a showcase of talent form our music and dances ECAs.

At breaktime - which will be from 10 - 10.30 am- we will have some student cultural dances which have been prepared by families from the countries represented. The highlight of the day for many is the International food buffet, which takes place in the Sports Hall. There is always an amazing spread of food from around the world, celebrating the diversity of our school community. If you would like to get involved in helping prepare for the buffet, please email ptgchair@standrews.ac.th to register your interest.
