Foundation Stage & Key Stage 1: Celebrating Success

An important update to the ECA calendar has been emailed to you… Look out for a new range of certificates recognising the success of our students in many areas of student life… Keeping our children happy and healthy is the focus of the Well Child policy.

It was good to meet so many parents at the Meet the Yeargroup Meetings last week and we look forward to meeting many of you individually this week when you are invited to attend the Meet the Teacher sessions. We hope that that opportunity to give teachers more information about your child and having the chance to ask questions will be useful - especially to families who are new to school.

ECA Update

You will all be receiving an email from ecaps@standrews.ac.th">ecaps@standrews.ac.th with some important, updated, information about our ECA programme. Please look out for this email and make sure you read it carefully as there have been some changes to the start date and schedule of ECAs that you need to be aware of. You can also find out more about these changes by clicking on this link.

Celebrating Success in Foundation Stage and KS1

Look out for our new range of certificates for Star of the Week, Music and Sports!

Alongside our Star of the Week certificates, which celebrate children’s successes in the classroom, we are introducing new recognition certificates, which will allow us to celebrate children’s successes and efforts in other areas too, such as being a good friend or being helpful in the canteen. The swimming and music departments have also developed a new line of certificate to help celebrate effort, progress and attainment.

Keep an eye out for these over the coming weeks.

Mrs Leanne, our Primary Literacy Coordinator, has also introduced a new certificate to celebrate students’ writing. Children who have worked particularly hard with their writing will be nominated by their teacher and the work will be shared with Mrs Leanne, their Year Leader and with Ms Diane.

A Well Child

Most parents will have had the experience. As soon as children come back to school , well rested after the long break and excited to be back with their friends, the coughs and sneezes start doing the rounds. This is not surprising as they bring with them viruses from everywhere they have visited during the break, but something we need to work on together to keep our children happy and healthy. If your child has a high temperature or is showing other symptoms such as an upset stomach, please do not given them Calpol and send them into school, rather keep them at home for observation and rest.

If your child contracts a more serious complaint such as measles, hand foot and mouth or chickenpox, it is essential that you email your child’s class teacher and the school office or nurse so that we can track the infection and notify other parents to look out for symptoms. Some outbreaks we have to report to the Thai Ministry of Public Health and we follow their guidelines when deciding if we have to close an area of the school for an exceptionally thorough deep-cleaning.

A reminder that any medicines your child needs should be given to the school nurse for administration. Please make sure they are clearly labelled with the child’s name and dosage. The exceptions being asthma inhalers and epi-pens that the children may need to keep with them.

Upcoming Events

Meet the Teacher (3-6 September)

From Monday to Thursday this week there will be another opportunity to meet the teachers for an optional short discussion about your child. Contact your class teacher if you still need to arrange a time for this.
