Head’s Lines: Up for the Challenge

Many students have embraced the challenge of trying out for our sports squads at HS and Primary...Find out about changes in the ECA schedule and start date...Meet the Teacher sessions are up and coming for many year groups this week...We appreciate how MaxValu parking has eased the flow of traffic around Primary.

Sport Squad Trials and ECAs Updates

It was a busy week last week at both campuses as students took part in all the different trials for our sports squads. There has been a huge interest from students across the school to get into the many squads and we recognise that it is something we need to review in order to ensure more and more individuals get the opportunity to be a part of a team and represent their school.

Similarly with the extra-curricular programme which has been further expanded this year.  Thanks to the variety of offerings available and the increased demand for these activities on both campuses, the start date of all ECA activities will be postponed by a week. This will allows more teachers to be recruited to assist with our more popular ECAs, as well as adding a few more options to both Primary and High School students.  You can find out more about the new schedule for ECA’s by clicking on this link.

We take immense pride in the wide array of ECAs offered at St Andrews, and it is important that all our students are afforded the opportunity to participate in the lessons that most interest them. Your patience and understanding during this period is very much appreciated as we expand and grow our ECA programme.

Meet the Teacher/Tutor afternoons

Meet the Teacher afternoons were held across the Primary School last week as well as a Meet the Tutor afternoon for Year 7 in High School. It was a pleasure to see so many parents attend these information sessions. These events are an important part of helping us to build a strong home/school relationship as working together we can better support your child. An important part of this is knowing your child’s class teacher or tutor so that you know who to contact should issues arise. I hope everyone found last week’s meetings useful, especially new families to our school who are busy trying to find out about how the many aspects of our school work together to support their children.

We look forward to seeing more High School parents at the Meet the Tutor afternoons being held this week:

  • Tuesday 4 September - Year 8
  • Wednesday 5th September - Year 9
  • Thursday 6th September - Years 10 and 11
  • Tuesday 11th September - Years 12 and 13

All sessions start at 4.00 p.m. in the Jo Adamson Theatre on the 7th floor of the Blue Building.

MaxValu Car Park

Parents are encouraged to use the MaxValu car park option with shuttle buses available to and from the Primary campus. This is a great alternative to the main school car park which does become very congested at peak hours.

While the traffic flow around our Soi 20 entrance is now running more smoothly with parents not parking and blocking the sub-sois, there is unfortunately a group of drivers who seem to be finding this no parking restriction difficult and who are, at times, being impolite to the officers and our school administration staff who are trying to manage this areas so there is a quick flow of traffic with the maximum number of children being dropped off or picked up at school.

Thank you for your support with these changes so that we can continue to use our entrance off Soi 20 and have no further issues with our local resident community and the local police about the roads being blocked due to our school community parking cars in this area.
