Drama: Reflecting on a busy term and looking ahead

We have enjoyed many exemplary exam performances, trips and productions in Term 1. Much more to come as we move into Term 2.

Last term saw our Year 11 and Year 13 Drama and Theatre Arts students working incredibly hard. In total they completed 6 practical, performance exams to a very high standard. The hard work isn’t over yet, as we move into Term 2 students will be focusing on their Drama theory.

KS3 can’t be forgotten though and also worked incredibly hard this term with their performance of Peter Pan and a workshop and performance with the professional Shakespeare theatre company: Handlebards.

As we move into Term 2 we have many more exciting opportunities and events. February will see a visit to watch the Pantomime artist Bill Bowers perform his outstanding one man show and our own performance evening: “Working Title”, showing a selection of work from Drama and Dance, across the key stages. We will also have a visit from Joachim Matschoss and his theatre company, they will be performing and leading workshops for KS4 and KS5 students.

Bugsy Malone rehearsals are in full swing and it is looking to be an outstanding production. Students who have committed to this ECA in Term 1 will need to sign up again for Term 2 on Moodle. Sorry but this Monday ECA is only available to those who have been cast in the production. Do not despair though, the devising and scripted ECA will be returning this year on a Wednesday in preparation for ‘Working Title.’
