Welcome back from the holiday to the start of a new and exciting term of learning. We hope that everyone has had a good break and will join us in extending a warm welcome to a few new families across the year groups.

As children start their new topics you will see that there are a number of new events for them to look forward to.

We welcome a number of new families across the Primary School this term and know that they will be made to feel very welcome, but if there are any issues as children settle into their classes please do not hesitate to contact the class teachers, Year Leaders, Mr Steve or myself, Ms Diane.

Mindful Self-Compassion - Free 2 hour Workshop

Last academic year we began an association with Siri Chandler and Masooma Kachelo who came into school to work with teachers and students on Mindfulness in Education. This successful programme will be run again this year by newly trained St Andrews teachers.

Siri will be returning to St Andrews International School Bangkok in January to a free 2-hour workshop for parents, with a focus of mindful self compassion. (

The workshop will be held on Friday 11 January at our Primary School - R Block 7th floor, starting at 08.30 a.m.

If you would like to attend this workshop, kindly register here. The course is open to non STA attendees but they must exchange ID at the security gate to be allowed access to the campus.

Tiger Conservation Day - Friday 11 January

On Friday 11 January the children will be visited by representatives of The World Wildlife Fund in Thailand (WWF), who will talk to us about conservation in general, but specifically about Thailand’s endangered tiger population. To raise the profile of this event we are inviting staff and students to come to school wearing ‘tiger themed’ clothes. No need to go out and spend lots of money. Wear something orange and black orange and black or do some creative upcycling!

We ask that children donate 20-50 baht on this day, the money going to the World Wildlife Fund in Thailand to support their local projects.

Parent Consultations

By now KS1 and KS2 parents should have accessed their child’s Term 1 report via the Parent Portal (please contact the Office if you need any help with this) and most of you have already made an appointment to come and meet your child’s teacher on either 15 January or 22 January, or some other mutually convenient time. Please contact teachers directly if you still have to make your appointment.

House Talent Show - Showcase of Winners on Fun Day

It is time to show just how talented our STA students are!

To take part, the students should prepare a short item that shows off their talent. This could be poetry reading, music, drama, dance, art, comedy, magic or any other skill that your child would like to share. Please bear in mind the audience when preparing so that the talent is presented in an interesting and entertaining way!

The auditions will take place during music lessons in the week beginning 21st January. Your child should plan, rehearse and be prepared to show their talent during that week. If their music lesson is on a Monday they must be ready on Monday!

Please could you help your child to prepare for this by supporting him/her in their practicing and letting them perform to you as a pretend show. Through this support your child will feel more confident, prepared and excited about auditioning in class.

The winners will be announced the following week and all winners should be ready to perform in a Talent Showcase on Fun Day, Saturday 2nd February!

Please encourage your child to take part in this opportunity to develop their performance and presentation skills, as well as supporting their house!
