Key Stage 2: No time like November

Frightful Friday creeps up this week at St Andrews International School Bangkok, so find out how your child can avoid getting spooked...Take part in the annual flu vaccination programme on 8th November by registering today...Loy Krathong celebrations will take place on 11th November and we’re asking everyone to show off their traditional Thai costumes on this day.

Welcome Back

I hope that everyone had a very restful break after the longest half term of the year, which was full of lots of exciting activities, events and of course lots of learning. The last day of the half term was our International Day at eth Primary Campus. This was a lovely way to celebrate the end of the half term and the diversity of our amazing community. We would like to say a huge thank you to the PTG and all of the parents who gave up their time to create such an amazing International Buffet in the Sports Hall. It truly was even bigger and better than ever before.

Frightful Friday

This we will once again be holding our Frightful Friday across the Primary School. This will give the children another opportunity to wear their Halloween costumes and enjoy some spooky activities with their friends at breaktime.

In our continued efforts to be more sustainable, teachers are talking to the children about using costumes they already have in their dressing up boxes and creative with what they have in their wardrobes rather than going out and buying something new for this event so please feel free to join us with this message.

Flu Vaccination Programme

We have recently shared with you the details of the St Andrews annual flu vaccination programme, which will be held at the Primary Campus on Friday 8th November 1pm-4pm. The programme- in collaboration with Samitivej Hospital- will, as usual, be open to all members of the family.

This programme is popular and to make sure that we order enough of the vaccine in advance of the 8th November, please complete the Google form below to register:

Flu Vaccination Form

At the end of the Google form, you can download the medical forms, which must be completed for everyone who is having the vaccination. These must be brought with you on the day of the vaccination. Each shot is a very reasonable 590 Baht.

*Please remember that a family member needs to collect your child from class and take them for the vaccination. You may collect the children from class before the end of the day to have their vaccination. Following the vaccination the children should be taken home.

Loy Krathong

On Monday 11th November we will be celebrating Loy Kratong in school. For those of you who are new to Thailand, Loy Krathong takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar and is a celebration at the end of the rainy season paying thanks to the water goddess, Mae Kongkha (Mother of Waters). The krathongs which people make and float on the waterways of Thailand are offerings to her.

The day will begin with two special assemblies - details of which will follow. Parents are very welcome to come along. The children will then have the opportunity to make their own krathongs in class.

Children and staff will all come to school wearing traditional Thai costume. These costumes will be readily available from local markets - our nearest market is behind Pridi Banomyong Soi 2 - large supermarkets and specialist stores, such as Phahurat.com.
