On Thursday 14th NovemberYear 10 Art and Photography students visited Railway Park (Suan Rot Fai) near Chatuchak, as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art. The purpose of the trip was twofold. Firstly students were gathering visual resources, in the form of drawings and photographs to inform their current work, which is an investigation into the theme of ‘natural and manmade’. Our brilliant artists rose to the challenge of sitting in public and drawing, which is quite a daunting task for anyone, creating some lovely sketches, whilst our roving photographers filled up their memory cards and wore out their batteries taking hundreds of photographs. Our second objective was to seek inspiration through the observation of contemporary painting and sculpture housed at one of Bangkok’s finest museums. St Andrews International School Bangkok students were amazed by the technical skill and imagination on display and certainly took away some great ideas for their own work.
