Key Stage 2: Solving all our (maths) problems in time for Christmas

A mathtastic time in Key Stage 2 as the times tables challengers stepped into the ring...We’re counting down to Christmas - a time of giving.

Maths Day at Primary

Last Friday, the campus was awash with colour as everyone came to school wearing their maths shirts. It was great to see so many students getting involved. The teachers had some challenging mathematical investigations set up in the classes for the children to take part in. The day started off with the annual Times Tables Championship, which, as always, was hosted by Mr Phil.

There were some hard-fought battles with children furiously typing in answers at an astonishing rate of one every 0.6 seconds. However, as with all competitions, there can only be one winner. This year’s champions were:

  • Y3 & 4 - Ping
  • Y5 & 6 - Harjan

The following tables summarise the overall rankings and competitors.

Christmas is Coming

The elves were busy over the weekend transforming the Primary Campus into a festive wonderland. The addition of the trees and decorations and the sounds of Christmas coming from the music rooms remind us that the Christmas Concerts and Christmas Fair are just around the corner. This year’s Christmas extravaganza will be on Wednesday 11th December, so please save the date.

Christmas Gifts for the BRC

As always, we will be collecting presents to donate to the children at the Bangkok Refugee Centre (BRC). The children who the centre helps often leave behind everything to escape war, persecution or extreme poverty. A small gift can make a big difference when you have nothing, so we ask everyone in our community to prepare a gift box, which will be delivered to the BRC in time for Christmas.

KS2 families can leave their gifts under the Christmas Tree in the School Office. The boxes could include: small toys, toiletries, books, underwear, etc. When you have filled and wrapped your box, please make sure it is clearly labelled. The label must include who it’s for - boy or girl - and which age group the box is suitable for. Boxes can be left under the Christmas tree in the School Office from today.

Tanzania Dress Up Day

Our High School students are very to lucky to have the opportunity to go to Tanzania on a Nord Anglia Education Expedition. On this, they venture into the local community and to embark on a number of community service projects which support the local people. The children’s flights, accommodation, etc. are all paid for by them, but the money that goes towards supporting these projects is raised by them through a number of events and activities organised by them.

On Monday 9th December, children can choose to come to school wearing an outfit that is Tanzania themed. This could be simply wearing the colours of the Tanzanian flag or they could be more daring and could come dressed as an animal that you might find living in the wild in Tanzania.

The Friday Night Game

Some of you might have heard of ‘The Friday Night Game’, a popular Basketball event that has been hosted at High School. We are pleased to announce another of these exciting evenings coming up at the end of November - and all for a good cause.

The Nord Anglia Expedition to Tanzania has in recent years become an important highlight on the calendar of some of our older students, as they travel to Africa to take part in community projects. One of the conditions of their place on the expedition is to do the majority of fundraising themselves. Check out the poster below for details on how you can contribute just coming to watch a little basketball, some amazing dance performances and more.

To take part in this non uniform day we ask the children to bring in a suggested donation of 50 baht.
