Marlin Mayhem

There was certainly a fantastic atmosphere at the High School campus throughout the weekend with the Marlin Mayhem Swim Meet taking place. Twenty other international schools attended our meet this year. There was some fierce competition and lots of noise as everyone got behind the swimmers to encourage them. An added bonus this year was the music stage setup just outside the Atrium where lots of students throughout the day played individually or in their bands, really giving a great festival atmosphere and keeping the crowds entertained as they waited for the next races.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this wonderful event and especially Khun X and his swim team who managed to get through a very busy race programme very efficiently.

NAE SEA Regional Conference

The NAE South East Asia Regional Conference started on Sunday afternoon with everyone meeting up to go for a dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya river. We wanted to show delegates another side to the bustling and hectic city of Bangkok, and what better way to do so than to view the ancient temples and palaces juxtaposed against all the modern architecture recently built along the river. With the breeze and pleasant evening temperatures, it made for a great ice-breaker for the delegates before the start of the conference at the High School on Monday. Over 100 delegates from twelve NAE schools in the Southeast Asian region were in attendance, and they really enjoyed seeing our school both on the INSET training day and in full flow with all our school community present. There were lots of informative workshops on offer allowing teachers to delve deeply into relevant topics about education.

The regional conference finished at 1.00 p.m. on Tuesday and based from all the feedback received, the event was a great success.

Fun day

Despite a great deal of consideration and thought, we have not been able to find another date for Fun Day this year. We will plan next year to have this fantastic event slightly later in the year next year to try to avoid the pollution problem that disrupted this event and caused it to be cancelled this year. The Talent Showcase, which normally takes place at Fun Day, will take place on Friday 8 March during the school day. As always, I am looking forward to seeing the wide range of talents that many children have been working on. Those families who brought entry bracelets will be refunded and we are discussing with the PTG how to handle the raffle as there are lots of great prizes. We hope to run the raffle draw alongside one of our other community events this term or next.

Leavers’ Survey

Thank you to everyone who has already completed the Leavers' Survey that was sent out. Thanks to this information, work is already underway to ensure that classes for next year are balanced so that every student can be afforded the best possible learning experience. However, if you have not yet completed this survey, we would appreciate your response as soon as possible, as it is also very important for our Admissions Team to have an idea of the number of new families we can welcome into our community next academic year.
