High School Library: Holiday reading

Staff of the Simon Lawrence Library at St Andrews International School Bangkok are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Bangkok Book Awards. There are also some great recommendations for holiday reading.

Bangkok Book Award 2019 - Winners

Congratulations! The Simon Lawrence Library would like to announce this year’s Bangkok Book Award winners. In the Junior Books category, the winner is ‘Blue Bottle Mystery – an Asperger Adventure’ by Kathy Hoopman and for Young Adult Books, ‘One of Us is Lying’ by Karen M. McManus. You can find the detailed information on the books in our library system by clicking the link or searching them in ‘Destiny Discover’ by scanning the QR code shown the posters below. We have more than 3 copies of each title, so it is highly recommended for you to check out these books for the Songkran holidays. (N.B. Parental Notice for “One of Us is Lying” (14+): this book contains mature content as well as exploring sensitive issues pertaining to health, well-being and suicide. We highly recommend that it is read in the context of a supportive family or school framework, enabling the sensitive discussion of these topics.)

New Arrivals for Young Adults

The Simon Lawrence Library has refreshed our Bookflix display with new books this week. As usual, the collection includes both fiction and non-fiction. Most of the fiction books are categorized as ‘Young Adults’, which means some books are appropriate for over 14 year old (Y9) students and are not suitable for Y7 & Y8 students. The Library staff put stickers labeling the appropriate ages for the books on their front cover, so that you can screen them before you check them out from the Library. Also, you can see the information on the age label of the books besides the book title  in our Library system when you use the self-checkout counter. We hope you enjoy this collection.
