Head’s Lines: A time to perform

The Primary School Production of Annie Junior at St Andrews International School Bangkok was a huge success...Term 3 is well underway and signals a packed schedule of exams for our students in Year 13, 11 and 6, while we look forward to our Graduation ceremony for the Class of 2019.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Key Stage 2 production of Annie Junior. It was a brilliant performance that captivated everyone fortunate enough to attend. The singing and dancing showcased the extensive range of talents our students possess, making the show an unforgettable spectacle. A huge thank you must go to all the cast members who have worked so hard over this past year rehearsing and preparing for the final productions. Special appreciation to Miss Sarah and all the teachers and staff who brought this show to together and put it on with such tremendous success.

As you and your senior high school children are well aware, the third term is the time for final examinations. The graduating Class of 2019, our current Year 13 students, are in the midst of their final International Baccalaureate examinations. Please join me in wishing them continued success as they clear their way through this last stressful period before we celebrate their accomplishments together on Saturday 1 June at our Graduation Ceremony, being held at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park

Our Year 11 students have also sequestered themselves away on study leave in preparation for their first barrage of external examinations, the International General Certificates of Secondary Education (IGCSE). Since the beginning of Year 10, they have been engrossed in anywhere from 8 to 10 subjects over a two-year period. While all IGCSE students take English and Mathematics examinations, the rest of their exams cover a wide array of individually selected courses tailored to their own particular interests and career directions.

Meanwhile, Key Stage 2 gets a preview of what’s to come as Year 6 students prepare to sit for their SAT examination papers during the week beginning Monday 20 May. They have been intensely focused on the areas they will be tested on, and I am confident this hard work will pay off and they will all perform admirably.

I know you will join me in wishing them all the best in their first important exams.
