Primary School Library: Scholastic Book Club orders exceed expectations

Our school community spends more than $1,400 in orders on Scholastic Book Club, earning our Primary School Library about GBP 200 in commission. We are still collecting good quality used books and games for our final sale next month and come and have look at the Top 20 books that have been borrowed by our students this year.

Scholastic Book Club Totals

The totals are in. We are delighted to be able to tell you that a total of $1,485.27 in orders has been placed during this Book Club earning some 200.64GBP in commission for the Primary School Library at St Andrews International School Bangkok, so a very BIG thank you to everyone who has placed an order and supported us during this book club.

An even BIGGER shoutout to 4P - Mr Pete’s class - who had the highest class spend of $227.60!

We hope to receive the books at school for distribution by the end of May and we will of course keep you updated.

Used Books

WANTED please! Your good quality used books for our upcoming sale in June. Please have a 'spring clean' and clear out your unwanted books, puzzles, games, activity books etc. and pop them in to the four House boxes inside the Library AND earn lots of house points. All the money raised from the June sale will be added to our March total and donated to a very worthwhile local cause. More details coming soon. Thank you all for your support.

Overdue and ‘Lost’ books

Please have a good look around at home for any overdue library books as we will be sending out payment notices for overdue and ‘lost’ books over the next few weeks in order to clear all accounts before the end of the school year in June. If you have any queries please do email or come and see us in the Library.

Top Titles Statistics

We thought it would be interesting to run the statistics for the Top 20 titles borrowed from the Primary School Library this school year. We have made a display outside the Library so please do take a look. Here is a photo:

top titles

It is interesting that most of the titles are what we term PFC ie. Primary Fiction - Comics with Dog Man claiming 4 out of the top 6 places. Harry Potter’s highest placement is at 20th having been pipped by David Walliams’ World’s Worst Children for 17th and 18th places. We hope this will encourage the children to read some of the titles which they haven’t so far.

Books of the Week

We hope you enjoy our selection of books this week which features a range of interesting stories for all ages/ reading levels and can be found on the counter in the Library.

"The more you READ, the more you KNOW, the more you LEARN, the more you GROW." Keep reading.
