Dance: Performances for Project Week & FNG # 4

Our students performed in the Performing Arts “Atmospheric” project for Project Week and the High school dance team entertained the crowd at half time for Friday Night Game

Project Week

Dance collaborated with Drama for Project Week to create a performance piece based on the central theme “Atmospheric.”  As we spread awareness on the issue of Climate Change we created an abstract dance piece that is based on a cause and effect idea and the drastic temperature changes happening all over the world.

Students explored movements in hot and cold temperatures and experimented those movement choices with a stretchable fabric that they have to use throughout the whole performance.  The fabric represented many ideas. It could be the temperature the students’ decided to use. It could be the connection between individuals.

It can also represent the obstacles or conflicts we experience in saving the world.  The piece ends in a human knot, the most challenging part of the piece to put together.  The students were tasked to knot their fabric with each other and when everyone is connected they have to work together unknot the fabric.
