Head’s Lines: Wrapping up another amazing year

We look back on some amazing end of year events that took place last week at St Andrews International School Bangkok, and we say goodbye to staff and families who are moving on and leaving our community.

Welcome to the final week of the third term and the end of this academic year. This year seems to have flown by with so much happening across the school each week. Our final week remains a busy one thanks to several House competitions going on, including the House Music Competition, always a highlight of the year. This last dash for points in competitions all across the school will be included in the final House point calculations to determine the winner of this year’s House Championship. This will be announced by our House Leaders on Wednesday in our end of term assemblies.

On Wednesday every child will receive their Yearbook. This year’s fantastic publication really captures what a vibrant school community we have. For the first time, the Yearbook will be split into a Primary School book and separate one for our High School. If you are leaving before the end of the week and would like your Yearbook to be sent to you, please make sure to inform the School Office. Those of you returning in August will have your book waiting for you upon your return.

Our Sports Awards celebrations took place at both High School and Primary School last week. These great celebrations shone a spotlight on all the young people who have participated and excelled in the immense range of sporting programmes offered at St Andrews. A special thank you goes to all the students, coaches, parents and staff who have played an integral role in making this a very successful year in sports.

Last week we also enjoyed some marvellous performances celebrating the end of the school year. First, there was the Creative Arts Faculty Expo last Tuesday at High School. On display was artwork from all Year Groups, as well as some fantastic performances in dance, drama and music showcasing all that has been achieved this year. On Thursday there was a “Spooky Music Concert” in Primary School featuring many bold and inspired children who demonstrated the amazing talents they have honed in the extracurricular activity clubs throughout the year.

The end of the school year is always a celebration of all that has been achieved throughout the year.  All of our young people, whatever their age, have grown and developed in leaps and bounds throughout the year, and we are all proud of their accomplishments. However, our emotions are always touched with a hint of sadness as we bid farewell to staff and families who are setting out to other parts of the world. I wish everyone who is leaving the best of luck and hope their move to their new environs goes smoothly and quickly. I also hope they will remember to stay in touch with us, as they are still a part of our great St Andrews community.

A special thank you to all our teaching and administration staff who have worked tirelessly throughout this year. They have really achieved a tremendous amount. Thank you for all your hard work and efforts.

Thank you to our  Parent Teacher Group (PTG) for all their support throughout this year and for the many great community events they have organised and hosted. I look forward to working with you once again to build on our successes in the upcoming academic year.

I know everyone is ready for a holiday and I wish everyone within our school community a very safe, enjoyable and relaxing holiday recharging their batteries to return on Monday 19 August for the start of next academic year.
