Primary School Library: A new look

The children are enjoying the ‘new look’ library; Yao wins the Summer Reading Challenge…

Library Refurbishment

The St Andrews International School Bangkok Library underwent a bit of a makeover during the holidays with the biggest single project being the laying of a beautiful new floor. We lost a bit of space to the new STEAM room but, in the process, gained some new built-in shelving which will enable us to display our Primary non-fiction books in style. We are working on new signage which we hope to have up as soon as possible. We also took the opportunity to re-arrange the layout of the Early Years and Primary fiction sections in order to open up the library space and improve flow. We also have a new counter and refurbished working area which are more accessible for the children. We hope you like the new look as much as we do. The children certainly seem to be enjoying the change!

Library Summer Reading Challenge

A BIG thank you to all the children who took part in our Summer Reading Challenge over the holiday. We have enjoyed looking through all the entries and awarding lots of house points and certificates. Yao were the winning house with 50% of entries so well done to them.

We were amazed by the quality and depth of the reading which took place across the entire age range with Sam Wilson from KG being our youngest participant, reading some 16 books, to Shaurya and Gino from Year 6 who are now enjoying life at the HS. Shaurya was one of only three children who completed the entire challenge ie. by reading some 21 books with the other two being Anais Wilson (Year 2) and Sia Lee (Year 1). A very impressive effort by them all.

Here are just a few of the categories which further demonstrate the quality and level of reading:
