High School: The next steps…!

It has been an eventful week. The first university offer has been received by a Class of 2021 and the Year 9 Options Parents Information Evening was streamed live and recorded for you to re-watch. While the Key Stage 3 Parent/Student/Teacher evenings take place (online) this week and next!

IB Students

Congratulations to Arin (Year 13) who last week received the Class of 2021’s first University offer, to study Biomedical Science at the University of Warwick.

The Year 13 students’ university applications are the final transition that we have been talking to students about over the last few weeks.

Information Evening

At the recent Year 9 Options Parents Information Evening, Ms Chrissy and I discussed the process for Year 9 students to select their (I)GCSE subjects for Years 10 and 11, which will then lead students into their Senior Studies subject choices in two years’ time.

As you can see on the infographic below, which shows how the St Andrew curriculum evolves from Key Stage 2 to the Senior Studies Programme, our students’ Senior Studies programmes build on their experiences throughout their time at St Andrews.

Information Evening 02

The next step for Year 9 students, and parents, are discussions with their subject teachers, either during lessons or in the online Key Stage 3 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings taking place this week and next week, and with Year 10 and 11 students already studying these subjects, at Friday’s Options Fair. For those students and parents explicitly considering how their (I)GCSE subjects choices will impact both their Senior Studies subject choices and their future university applications, Ms Beverley will also be available at the Key Stage 3 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings for Year 9 students and parents.

Of course, we are all also looking forward to talking to parents of students in Years 7 and 8 in these Key Stage 3 Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings. Mr Paul, Ms Lucy and Ms Chrissy have already e-mailed parents of students in Years 7, 8 and 9 respectively with more details. Please can all parents ensure that they have registered for appointments with teachers before 3pm on the day of the Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings.

Calendar Updates

The Calendar below now shows the five weeks until the end of term. Please remember that the Special Public Holidays on Thursday and Friday this week are normal school days.

In three week's time, we will be closed on both Monday 7th December (the original compensation day for National Father's Day) and Thursday 10th December (Constitution Day). In that week we will also swap Tuesday to Monday's timetable and Wednesday to Friday's timetable to balance up the numbers of each day of the week that we have had this term. This will not affect any remaining Activities.

Flu Vaccination Programme

This year’s Flu Vaccination Programme will be held next week, on Friday 27th November, from 1 pm to 4 pm in the Primary School’s Drama Studio. The programme, in collaboration with Samitivej Hospital, will be open to all members of the family at a price of 590 baht per shot.

The programme is always popular, and this year we anticipate will be even more so. To make sure we have ordered enough vaccines please complete this form to register. A form must be completed for each person who is to receive the vaccine. You will also need to print and complete this form, and bring it, with your payment, on the day.

With parental consent, High School students may take the shuttle bus to Primary at 2:30 pm to receive their vaccination independently.

Please remember that all the school's Google Calendars can be seen via Moodle: calendar.standrews.ac.th
