I hope everyone has had a very relaxing and enjoyable half term and are feeling reinvigorated to be back at school. Throughout the week's holiday we have been closely following the developments around the world regarding the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. There were temperature checks for everyone entering High School and Primary School on Monday morning, our first day of the second half of Term 2. We ask parents to be continually vigilant with their children’s health and not to send them into school if they have any symptoms of an illness.
Unfortunately due to concerns about the virus, sports fixtures and competitive inter-school events have had to be cancelled, and we are currently in discussions with the TISAC and BISAC about whether any local sports matches will take place this term. At the moment there is a very strong feeling that it is important not to present opportunities where this or other viruses can spread into school communities. Therefore, it is likely that we will have to follow suit with the precautions taken for international competitions and withdraw from much of the local inter-school events. This would be a tremendous loss for our student athletes, but our foremost concern must remain the health and safety of our school community. During this week we shall update you on what events will have to be cancelled.
The Key Stage 2 residential trips are taking place because they have either sole use of the facilities that will be used, or they are staying at resorts such as the Evason Resort for Year 4 which are big enough to accommodate our year groups without them coming into contact with other guests. All arrangements and bookings ensure that students on residential trips will only mix with the children in their year group and our teaching staff.
Soi 20 Gate Drop off
During the first term, the school has worked very hard to improve the flow of traffic through our main car park with no cars being allowed to just circulate around this area. The parking at Soi 22 market area, SUK 71, has been very well used with parents taking advantage of the new walkway to enter into school with their children. This walkway provides a very safe pathway into school with our guards stationed along it. Older children have been dropped from their cars onto this walkway thereby removing the need for a significant number of cars to enter our front car park.
However, there are still a large number of our school community’s cars parking in Soi 20 and the surrounding roads causing a major problem for the residents of this area. Also, parents dropping off and picking up children at the school gate on Soi 20 has become increasingly hazardous with children running across the road in front of cars. Therefore I would like to request that parents voluntarily refrain from using the Soi 20 gate to drop off their children, and instead come into the main car park from Soi 20/1. At the moment the Gate on Soi 20 will continue to remain open as it is used by everyone accessing the school shuttle bus service, but traffic flow and our neighbors would more effectively be served if less cars from our community were relying on this Soi to drop off their children.
