Foundation Stage and KS1: Welcome back to Term 2!

Term 2 starts away from the school campus but not from the fantastic learning.

Welcome back to Term 2!

Happy New Year to our community, I hope you all managed to have a restful break during this period and managed to stay safe and healthy.

Looking back at last term, we enjoyed the Christmas celebrations within the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. The FS1 and 2 children were able to invite their families into school to join in the festivities and both groups sang beautifully.

Thank you to the support of the music department who worked so hard during the term to help the children learn the songs. It was also great to see Santa make an appearance along with his elf helpers. Thank you to the PTG for organising Santa’s visit and their donation of cookies and apples. I’m sure you will all agree how important these community events are to savour and enjoy when we get the opportunity.

Virtual School Experience (VSE)

As you will know by now, we will start the new term away from the school campus but not from the learning. The teachers and support staff have been preparing for such an eventuality over the last few months so have a bank of resources ready to support your child’s online learning. Your child’s class teacher will have been in touch with you in preparation for this week’s VSE if you have any questions please contact them.

Although this is not an ideal situation, with the previous experience we have seen children come back into physical school still able to reach their milestones because of their continued learning through VSE. Regular contact with the teachers has helped to keep the children up to date with their learning and has also been a guide for the whole family supporting their child from home.

Obviously, most school events have been put on hold for now but we will continue to keep you updated with any events which may be able to take place in the future. Thank you for your continued support, as always, it is very much appreciated by all the staff here at St Andrews.
