High School: Back to School Update

As we look forward to safely reopening, please ensure that your families vaccination status is kept up to date using our Health App. Make sure to complete the Returning to School survey, and for those families who would rather keep their children at home, the Virtual School Experience will continue across all Year Groups.

HS

A number of our High School students had Sinopharm vaccinations at the Chulabhorn Royal  Academy Vaccine Center on Monday morning, and on Monday afternoon we shared more details of Friday’s Pfizer vaccinations at MedPark with those parents who previously consented for us to share their age-eligible child with hospitals offering Pfizer vaccination opportunities. If you have not received this email, please make sure the message did not end up in your Spam folder and/or contact support@standrews.ac.th.

We ask that all parents receiving this email book an appointment time for Friday by noon on Wednesday. If you no longer wish to take advantage of this opportunity, or if your child is not eligible for this opportunity, please do not book an appointment, and we will then be able to make this slot available to another student.
By Friday afternoon, a significant number of High School students will have been at least partly vaccinated. Please can all parents ensure that their vaccination status, and that of their child(ren), is kept up to date using our Health App. As always, please ensure that you are logged into a parent Moodle account before using the Health App.

On Wednesday this week over 200 teachers and other members of staff will also receive their second vaccination from MedPark, taking the number of teachers and other staff who have been fully vaccinated to over 90%.

While we have attempted to arrange these vaccinations to cause as little disruption as possible to teaching and learning, and all teachers will ensure that work is set via Moodle for all classes, it is possible that some teachers will not be online for the whole of each lesson as they usually are.

By now I hope that you have all taken the opportunity to review our High School Back to School: September 2021 slides. While many of our processes and guidelines will be very similar to when we reopened in June 2020, August 2020 and February 2021, having the vast majority of teachers and staff, and a significant number of High School students, vaccinated, will make a significant additional contribution to ensuring that the school is as safe as possible for all of us when we are given permission to reopen.

As always, the Virtual School Experience (VSE) will also continue across all Year Groups to accommodate those families who decide they would rather keep their children at home at this time, with lesson details for every lesson shared via Moodle and students also involved in lessons, via Google Meet etc., as much as possible.

I would like to thank those parents who have already completed our Returning to School survey. With responses for over two thirds of High School students, we are very pleased to be expecting approximately 80% of High School students back in school as soon as we are able to reopen, but we do need responses for all students to be able to create our Seating Plans for all High School classes, an important part of our plans to reopen the school as safely as possible for everyone.

If you have not yet completed our Returning to School survey, please can you complete the survey as soon as possible, as we are very much hoping that we will be able to welcome the students back into school after half-term.

Calendar Update

This year’s cycle of Grade Reports and Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings begins this week, beginning with Year 12’s first Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings. Year 11 and 13 students will receive their Term 1 Grade Reports on Friday, with their first Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings of the year taking place in the week after half-term. Ms Sasha and Ms Nikki will share more details with Year 11 and 13 parents respectively in the next few days.
