Primary and Foundation Stage: Last week of school

We reflect on our communities’ successes and the new skills our students have learnt throughout this time away from the physical classroom. We say goodbye to a few of our teaching staff and families as they go onto new experiences. Finally, we want to reiterate our thanks for your support and positive outlook throughout this VSE experience and school year through the ups and downs as a school community.

thank you

The Last Week of School and some Highlights from VSE

As we see out the last few days of what has been, at times, a very difficult term at STA, we can still reflect on the successes we have had as a community and the new skills our students have learnt throughout this time away from the physical classroom. The level of independence of our students has increased due to them having to take more responsibility for their own learning obviously with support from family members. The teachers have been really impressed with the level of dedicated learning. Students have been able to work out how they learn best and very importantly how to self-motivate.

I have seen that families have been brought closer together throughout this time, with parents taking on such an active and supportive role during the VSE. I am sure the strong links that have been formed by teachers and families during this time will have a positive influence on future years in the school.

I have mentioned before about student resilience and dealing with disappointment.  This is an important life skill and hopefully means that when the school opens up again the small things that maybe weren’t appreciated so much in the past will take on a little more significance, talking with friends at play-time, sitting next to friends to have lunch, all things to look forward to.

It has been interesting this week witnessing some of the crowds attending the football matches at the European Championships that you may have been following. It is a strange but exciting sight to see people coming together and enjoying an experience collectively. We will eventually be in that situation in our school, coming together to enjoy an experience as one community and hopefully we can all appreciate these times even more in the future knowing how precious they are.

As Mr Paul has mentioned we are saying goodbye to a few of our teaching staff this year as they go on to different schools and experiences around the world. We wish all of these teachers the best of luck in the future and thank them for their hard work and dedication whilst teaching here at St Andrews. Mrs Jette, Miss Alice, Miss Bogi, Miss Nicola, Miss Lauren, Mr Jose, Mrs Maria, Miss Lizzie, Mr Antonio and Miss Katie Hall.  They have worked with us for a good amount of time, especially Miss Alice! Words can’t really describe how hard they have worked to bring the best out of every child in their care. We as a school are so proud to have had these amazing teachers on our team. The students they will get to teach in the future are extremely lucky. They truly are part of the family here at STA and will be missed so much by everyone!

I would like to finally take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and positive outlook throughout this VSE experience this term through the ups and downs that we have had to endure over the past year or so. I wish that all in our community manage to have a break this summer, especially away from screens! If your family is leaving us at the end of the year we wish you all the best for the future and please know that you are always welcome to visit us here at STA.

Below are a few highlights of the VSE experience to remind us how fantastic our students have been!

STAr Jump for Klong Toey

Thank you again for all of your donations for the Klong Toey appeal. We have raised around 559,400 baht so far from our community contributions. If you have not yet donated, please do so as this is a really worthy cause that helps our neighbours here in the city who are going through a challenging time due to the ongoing pandemic. To see how the money we have raised together has contributed to helping this community watch this video.
