BSB Sanlitun Christmas Choir Performances 2016

It has been a busy, exhausting but wonderful few weeks for the BSB Sanlitun Christmas Choir 2016. After weeks of enduring rehearsals, learning words and losing voices the children of the BSB Sanlitun choir were finally given the chance to parade their angelic voices to the people of Beijing and make all those hours of hard work worthwhile.

Led by the fantastic conductor, Mrs Iva Borisavljevic the choir brought a touch of Christmas magic to the tree-lighting ceremonies with some simply beautiful versions of Silent Night and Hark the Herald Angels sing, combined brilliantly with some more upbeat contemporary songs such as Rocking around the Christmas Tree and White Christmas.

The children loved being treated like stars as they were ushered to their back-stage rooms and provided with a feast of their favourite food and drink. Despite all the joy, the excitement and, at times large intakes of sugar, the choir behaved impeccably throughout the season’s events and served as fantastic ambassadors for the school.

Away from the glitz and glamour of the five-star hotels, the choir performed magnificently at the annual Christmas fair. Performing to a packed school hall of proud parents and eager onlookers, the songs resonated through the school grounds ensuring that the visitors were filled with festive cheer throughout the event.

The final event of the year took place at the Westin Financial street brunch. We were delighted to see so many parents and children from the BSB Sanlitun community. Once again the choir proved their versatility by mixing traditional carols with challenging pop numbers, compelling the audience to dance along as they watched. The choir performed two sets and, by the end of the second, a sense of pride swept over us all as teachers, families and children reflected on another amazing festive season for the BSB Sanlitun Christmas choir.
