To carry out their investigation, Year 4 needed a variety of equipment, including socks, scales, water, washing lines and thermometers. First, the children weighed the socks to make sure that they all weighed the same to make it a fair test. After that, they soaked them in water and weighed them again. Satisfied that all the socks weighed the same after being in the water, the children looked around the classroom for places to hang them to dry. Some were in front of the air conditioning unit, some were outside, some were just hanging in the classroom!
They all enjoyed coming back to their investigation to see which sock had dried the most by the end of the day. They were not surprised to see that the sock which had been hang to dry outside was still damp by the end of the day!
