After revising the names of different 2D and 3D shapes, the children were challenged with using sticks and marshmallows to make different shapes. The children began by working as a team to make 2D shapes. The most challenging of all was the hexagon, but after some trial and error the children were delighted that they could successfully make this shape too. Next the children were asked to make a cube. It was amazing to see such excellent team work from the children and they were able to communicate well with each other in order to build a cube together. Lastly, the children discussed the different shapes they had made in their groups by naming each of their properties.
