After studying Early Years Education Studies and earning a First Class BA (Hons) degree, I undertook a PGCE at Liverpool Hope University. I worked for four years in a large primary school in the Wirral (England) where I taught children in Reception. In addition to my role as class teacher, I was a member of the senior leadership team and led the Foundation Stage in this setting. Whilst working, I studied for a Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning which I completed in 2013.
Working internationally has always been something which I have been keen to do. An international school is a unique environment to work in as it presents a new range of demands and expectations.
Learning Through Play
I moved to Boston with my husband in 2013 and we are having the best time here! We both like to explore new places and our location here in Boston allows us to do this.
Since our arrival in the USA we have been skiing in Vermont, whale watching and visited many beautiful places such as Portland, Maine and Newport, Rhode Island. We have a scratch map of the USA states which we are challenging ourselves to complete.
I enjoy running and keeping fit so I like to enter races and use this as a way to visit new places. My most recent race was the Ottawa Half Marathon and I now have my eyes on a “Run Disney” event.
What makes BISB unique?
This school is different from any other school I've taught at because there are so many opportunities to work alongside, and interact with, parents.
