This week has been a tremendous end to a busy and successful term. Our week started by our visiting author, illustrator and paper engineer Mr. John O’Leary presenting his work to the Primary children in assembly. He then spent three very busy days in Primary classrooms showing people how to create marvelous pop-up books and paper folding techniques to create box folds, hinges and floating beams!
Alongside D.E.A.R, door designing, book swaps, buddy reading and book dating, we also had book sales, character days and book at bedtime! Thursday evening was a fun event where children returned to school in pyjamas and with their favourite cuddly toy to have their bedtime stories read to them by their teachers and learning assistants. Thank you for all those who helped your child attend this event and a special thank you to our PTA helpers who provided hot chocolate and biscuits for all involved.
The Easter Bunny also ‘hopped In’ to see us this week. With the help of a translator, the bunny hid eggs for the children to find in return for chocolate ones! No one had any complaints about the swap, as you can imagine.
Once again we showed what a great community spirit we have here at BISB during our character day on Friday. We seemed to have a wide range of characters from Matilda to Pippi Longstocking. The playground was awash with colour and sounds as the children arrived completely in character for the day. What a way to end the term.
Many thanks to the children for their hard work this term and, of course, parents for your continued and valued support. Enjoy your break.
