BISB Peripatetic Music Programme
At the British International School Budapest, we offer students in Years 2 and above the option of taking private music lessons on campus. Our team of highly experienced music teachers are all professional musicians who speak English fluently. We currently offer lessons for the following instruments:
Guitar (electric and acoustic/classical)
Percussion (Drums and xylophone)
Woodwinds (Flute, clarinet, saxophone, recorder)
Voice (focus and jazz and contemporary styles)
Students have the option of registering for the Associated Board of the Royal College of Music (ABRSM) (http://hu.abrsm.org/en/home) and/or the Rock School performance exams (http://www.rockschool.co.uk/). These exams take place in late May or early June. Talk with your child’s peripatetic teacher as soon as possible if you are considering exam registration for Spring 2017.
Individual lessons last for 30 minutes, and may be scheduled as follows:
Primary – during break times, after school, or during class (with teacher approval)
KS3 and KS4 – during break and lunch times, or after school
IB – during break and lunch times, after school, or during study periods
If you would like your child to have more than one lesson a week, additional lessons are subject to teacher availability and may be scheduled after school. Should you wish your child to have a lesson longer than 30 minutes, this will also be scheduled at the discretion of the instrumental teacher.
Each 30-minute lesson costs 3500 HUF. The teacher will send you an invoice for each term. Payment can be made directly to the teacher or by bank transfer.
You can read the professional biographies and contact information for our peripatetic teachers in the pdf document below. To schedule private music lessons for your child, please contact the relevant teacher(s) directly via email. The programme is very popular, so we advise parents to sign up as soon as possible. We endeavour to provide this opportunity for all interested students. In the event of over-subscription, however, places will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and a waiting list will be opened.
If you would like information on how best to choose an instrument for your child, you are welcome to come and talk to us.
