Alzahra Mohammed Year 13
I joined BISB in August 2016 and having previously studied at two international schools, I thought I knew what to expect. However, what I immediately encountered went far beyond my expectations. What makes BISB very different from any other school I have attended is the overwhelming amount of support and encouragement that I receive from my teachers. Consequently, this has made me very appreciative of the values and ethos of the school. These values are embedded in how our teachers foster a learning environment that is both intellectually challenging and engaging. Our school is filled with students of outstanding merit and I have found that the teachers unfailingly continue to encourage those individuals into developing their skills and intellects, aiding them to become curious and open-minded global citizens.
Personally, the school has given me the privilege of becoming President of the Student Council and has encouraged me to apply for the course of my dreams in the world’s best universities. It is my duty to have a positive and tangible contribution in our school community and I am looking forward to working with every student and staff member of BISB in creating an environment that fosters ambition and embraces diversity and excellence.
Jonathan Blanckaert Year 13
My name is Jonathan and I am a student in Year 13. I feel honoured to represent the Secondary school community by being a Student Leader and to work with students across all year groups. Five years ago when I first joined BISB, I immediately felt welcome in its vibrant and enthusiastic school community. Five years later, I hope to make other people feel the same. We launched the new Student Council this year and we are determined to collaborate with students across the whole Secondary school to give everyone in our school a voice. The Student Council has enabled other students from different year groups to get to know each other and to nurture our vibrant school community further. I hope that everyone will have an equally valuable experience at BISB as I have.
David Domokos Year 13
I came to BISB four years ago in Year 9 with some knowledge of the English language and I found it challenging to study all day in English, however, the outstanding atmosphere at BISB for studying enabled me to sit my IGCSE exams three years later. This culturally diverse and open environment did not only help me develop an intellectually curious attitude, but also made me become a person with a better approach to challenges in everyday life. I have always been inspired by the older students and by the things that they accomplished, from outstanding academic results to their successes in their co-curricular activities. These are the reasons that pushed me towards academic excellence and to take action outside the classroom. Now, as a Secondary Student Leader, I really want to do the same thing as the students that I looked up to did for me. I want to take part in always improving the community of our school and I want to inspire the younger students to aim as high as they can and to put all their effort in to reaching their goals.
