Throughout his international career he taught in International Baccalaureate schools, teaching Mathematics and Theory of Knowledge. Ben has held a variety of leadership roles, most recently as the Deputy Head Teacher of a large international school in Vietnam.
Ben joined NAE in 2015 and was a member of the NAE assessment working group tasked with formulating a group wide approach. In 2016 Ben completed the NAE Senior Leadership Programme.
Ben believes that a first class education is one that secures academic success alongside the development of the skills and abilities to build confident, principled, independent and caring young people. This is best achieved through a broad educational provision encompassing academic subjects, creative and active pursuits as well as service learning. Growth across these areas is accomplished in a culture of measured challenge and appropriate support within a school community rich in positive relationships. It is under these conditions that young people can become equipped and inspired to pursue their ambitions.
In his spare time Ben likes to cycle and run. He also enjoys travel with his wife and two boys. When relaxing, Ben enjoys cryptic crosswords and reading non-fiction, anything from theoretical physics to psychology.
