Sarah’s first taste of international education was her year spent as an English Language assistant in a school in Niedersachsen, Germany back in 2001. After training as a teacher she began her career in Hampshire, England where she went on to become the school's Director of Languages. A strong desire to work with international students from many different backgrounds took Sarah to teach in Prague, where she soon became the Head of Languages, a post which she then also held for two years in China.
Sarah is a long-standing Nord Anglia Education teacher, having been with us since 2010 in our schools in Prague and in Shanghai. From August 2014 to August 2016 she was also the company’s Teaching Fellow for World Languages, and in this capacity she has run many webinars, forum discussions, training sessions and online courses for fellow teachers across the world. Sarah has also completed the Middle Leadership Development Programme with the UK’s National College for School Leadership. Sarah is an experienced IB Diploma practitioner as well as an IB Diploma Examiner, and has worked extensively with international Sixth Form students including advising on university applications.
Sarah believes in the combined principles of enjoyment and achievement; she knows that where one exists, the other will follow. Sarah wants to enable students to enjoy school and achieve well during their schooltime, as this will lead them on to further learning and future ambition.
Sarah visits Germany often in order to keep in touch with the language she loves best. She learns other languages for communication and as a hobby, and is currently improving her French and developing her Spanish and Hungarian, while trying to keep some Czech and Mandarin in her head! In her free time, she loves travelling to new places with her husband, who is also a teacher, and they are both avid board game geeks, keen hikers, happy campers and live music fans.
