Ms Newson has pursued two interconnected careers: having first studied Education and Modern Languages, she returned to university to gain a degree in Linguistics and also a PGCE. This means that besides many years teaching Primary, she has also been able to teach EAL. She conducted research and was a lecturer at the Universities of Reading and Hertfordshire in the UK and has a special interest in language development in children (native, bilingual and non-native speakers) and linguistics for education, for example development and support of reading skills in small children using the widely successful Oxford Reading Tree scheme.
Ms Newson has held positions of responsibility, including that of Deputy Head in an International school, but after hearing wonderful things about our school, she happily joined our team in the 2011-2012 academic year.
Ms Newson still maintains her interest in learning languages: still perfecting her Hungarian, but would like to learn Italian, Mandarin and Russian too! She is married and has two grown-up and one almost grown-up children, who are themselves completely bilingual despite having two English parents!
