At the age of sixteen, Cathair started working for the Football Association of Ireland on their Summer School program. This gave him great experiences in coaching before eventually working for a variety of academies in England.
After completing his PGCE in Primary Education, Cathair began his teaching career in Solihull, England. In his first year he worked as a Year 4 class teacher before moving to Year 6 and becoming Head of PE. For his third year of teaching, Cathair moved to Dubai and began working at a large international school teaching children from a variety of countries and cultures. Since moving to Dubai he has been a class teacher for Years 3, 4 and 5 as well as being Head of Mathematics, Year 3 and 4 group leader and Data and Assessment leader.
Cathair believes that children learn best when they are happy, engaged and involved in their learning. He enjoys it when children share ideas with their classmates and work as a team to overcome difficult situations together so they make rapid progress in their learning. Cathair promotes learning skills (such as critical thinking, reflection, risk taking etc.) in lessons so children are not only successful in lesson but also when they leave school and work.
In his spare time Cathair enjoys playing a variety of sports (such as football, squash, golf) as he used to play for a variety of sports teams in his home country. He also loves trying to solve puzzles and playing board games with friends. During the holidays Cathair enjoys exploring new cities and countries and gaining as many new experiences as possible.
