Gemma has enjoyed being a Primary School teacher for fourteen years and has experience teaching in both Key Stage 1 and 2. She has taught in a range of different school settings in the UK and for the last six years has been an international teacher at a highly reputable NAE school in Ho Chi Minh City. Her past roles have included English Leader, Maths Leader and Logic and Reasoning Leader.
Gemma has completed a number of online courses through NAE during the last six years including Child Protection, Online Safety and Mindfulness. Gemma has also completed the following longer length certified courses run by her previous school: ‘The Middle Leader Development Programme’ and ‘Gifted Education and higher order thinking.’
Gemma is keen to inspire her students to become independent learners and to instil in them a curiosity and passion to discover new things. She really enjoys teaching English and encouraging students to be creative with their ideas and ambitious when using new literary techniques. Gemma loves being an international teacher and understands the importance of supporting children to feel part of a global community.
In her spare time, Gemma enjoys taking on personal challenges such as training for marathons and going on expeditions. She has recently trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp and has gone on a dog sledding adventure in Mongolia. She is keen to explore new cultures and enjoyed travelling around Asia during her stay in Vietnam. Gemma loves animals and has two rescue cats who currently reside in the UK.
