James started his teaching career in 1999 after four years in industry in the UK. He taught in the UK for 11 years, rising to become Deputy Headteacher of a Primary School in the Bath area that was graded Outstanding by Ofsted.
James joined BISB in 2010. He led Mathematics across the Primary School for the first four years and he enjoyed leading the rugby squad as well. Drama is the next area to focus on for James.
James believes that the best education is child-centred and engenders a sense of achieving excellence by continuously working on your personal best. In that sense, every child should be ambitious about what he or she can achieve and teachers should expect the best from everyone. The best education also helps us appreciate we are all different and we all have a special contribution to make to society. School life should provide many different opportunities for these different talents to be expressed.
In his spare time, James enjoys riding his bicycle and going for city walks with his wife, two boys and their lovely dog Sunny. James also loves the vibrant art scene in the city, enjoying memorable trips to galleries, concerts, stand-up comedy and contemporary dance.
