Jackie Ferguson

Art Teacher

BA (Hons) Fine and Applied Arts, University of Ulster Belfast

Higher Diploma in Art for Art and Design Teachers, Limerick Institute of Technology, Limerick, Ireland

Qualified Teaching Status with the Teaching Council of Ireland

Having taught Art internationally in Asia since 2010, Jackie was Head of Art in southern China teaching IGCSE and A Level Art and Design. Prior to this as Head of Creative Arts in a school in Malaysia, she led teaching and learning in Music, Art, Drama and Community Arts from KS1 to KS4.  She also enjoyed working as Head of House, in both China and Malaysia, she collaborated within the Houses to ensure all students felt a part of their House family.

Jackie guides students to make connections between both local and global cultural contexts within an Art curriculum to enable students to develop personal responsibility and global citizenship.  She develops student agency by ensuring each pupil collaborates to set their own challenging smart targets, using a template specifically designed for Art. This collaborative process helps students to develop as reflective learners who know how to improve, thus ensuring that there are no limits to what can be achieved when students aspire to excellence.

In her spare time, Jackie enjoys spending time with her dog Trulio. She also loves kayaking and has represented Ireland at previous European and World Championship events. She is hoping to go on plenty of kayak adventures across Europe while living in Budapest.
