Claire Walton

English Language and Literature Teacher

BA (Hons) English Literature, Lancaster University

Graduate Degree in Law, College of law

PGCE Secondary English, Liverpool Hope University

NPQ in Senior Leadership, University of Central London

Current: MA, Creative Writing, University of Hull

Claire started her teaching career in 2010 after training as a Lawyer and realising that education was her passion and where she found fulfilment.  Working in Malaysia, New Zealand and back in Malaysia for a second time, Claire has loved the diversity and wealth of culture embedded in teaching internationally. Having experience as Head of Department, Head of Literacy and Key Stage Coordinator, Claire is excited to be a part of the BIS community in Budapest.

Claire undertook the Senior Leadership NPQ in 2019 and also the Performance Coaching for Leadership course in 2018, taking advantage of the opportunity to expand her skill base and experiences across the school and community.  She also completed the TEFL, TESMC and CLIL courses widening her knowledge of teaching English as a Second/Additional language.

Claire is a lively and passionate person by nature who believes that education should be a lifelong love of searching for answers and finding even more questions.  Claire’s philsosophy is to encourage students, and peers alike, to reach for the stars, fostering that curiosity and drive that helps us all to flourish. At the heart of her teaching and her students’ learning is valuing the journey.

Claire is an avid sportswoman, competing in long distance triathlon and ultra distance running- both of which require a high pain threshold and a strong imagination, thus complimented by her love of reading, her cinema addiction and visits to the theatre.
