Ruth Sudlow

Ruth Sudlow

English Teacher

MA (Hons) English and Classical Studies, University of St. Andrews

MLitt (Hons) Shakespeare Studies, University of St. Andrews

PGCE Secondary English, University of York

Ruth started her teaching career in 2013 after completing her PGCE in York. Her first post was in a large comprehensive school in Pickering, North Yorkshire, where she stayed for three years and took on a pastoral role as Head of House. She then moved to Dubai to take up her first international teaching post. During her time in the UAE, Ruth was promoted to Head of KS4 within the English department and also led the IB Literature Diploma Programme.

Ruth finds working in an international school inspiring owing to the diversity that it brings to the classroom. She believes that giving students the chance to share their own cultural understanding and learn from others helps them to become more informed and responsible global citizens. She is ambitious for the students in her class to apply these viewpoints to the study of literature within the curriculum.

In her personal time, Ruth is a keen yogi and enjoys drawing and painting. She also loves attending theatre, especially if there’s a Shakespearean play on!
