Kirk Wootton

Kirk Wootton

Chemistry Teacher

BSc Chemical and Analytical Science, University of College of Swansea, University of Wales

PGCE Secondary Science, University of Reading

Kirk started his teaching career in 2005 after first working in pharmaceutical research, and then sales and technical support for large pharma companies. His first teaching post was in a comprehensive school near Reading and after four years he took up his first international school post in Bangkok, Thailand. During his seven years in Thailand, Kirk held positions of Head of Science, Head of Year, and Assistant Head of Secondary, he taught IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme. Kirk then moved to Dubai and worked for three years as Head of Science teaching MYP Science/Chemistry and DP Chemistry.

Kirk is new to NAE but has worked for large school groups in the past. He has already completed training in IDBP Chemistry in previous roles and has also been an IGCSE Chemistry exam marker with CIE for many years.

Kirk has a simple philosophy for education, and that students learn better by having hands-on learning experiences. His main focus includes showing that students can achieve and that Science is not a boring subject, but one filled with wonder and excitement. He is ambitious in emphasising to students the value of scientific skills and how those skills can help prepare BISB students to be leaders in both problem solving and knowledge application in any future career.

In his spare time, Kirk enjoys exploring Budapest and finding new unnoticed buildings whilst walking. Kirk has a history of being part of drama groups, including acting, directing, and producing various plays. He also enjoys watching anything Science Fiction, and often introduces novel ideas from these shows and films into his lessons.
