Anka began working as a clinical and educational psychologist in 2007, in her private practice and also in a medical clinic in Bucharest. She is interested in neuropsychology, effective communication skills and social and emotional development. She continued her professional development by doing additional extensive training in various therapeutic methods, such as cognitive psychotherapy, sandplay therapy, art therapy, NLP and experiential practices, with clinicians, therapists and psychology professors from USA, UK, Germany and France. For two years Anka was also an associated assistant-teacher at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Bucharest. Following her interest in psychological research, Anka was a member of the research team for The Bucharest Early Years Project (a project that was focusing on the neuropsychological development of children), alongside distinguished Professors from Harvard Medical School, Maryland University and Tulane University School of Medicine. Anka has experience working with children, adults and families, individually or in a group setting, offering psychological support and educating people to build harmonious relationships and fulfil their potential.
Anka joined the BISB team in 2018 as a school counsellor, working to provide social and emotional support for the students, and also for parents when needed. Besides her counselling sessions with the students, she has also organised workshops for parents. Anka believes that parenting classes are a great help for families. Recently she has taken full advantage of the opportunities offered through Nord Anglia University, and enrolled in the Masters programme for International Education, at King’s College London.
Anka believes that it is fundamental to educate children not only in terms of academic development, but also to acquire and enhance social and emotional competencies, to develop their empathy, care and responsibility, and to help them understand and adapt to the fast changing world around us. She is an advocate for mental health education and would like to help diminish the stigma around any kind of physical or mental conditions. Anka is passionate about her dream- to educate more people regarding mental health and implementing proper care and scientifically validated methods to diminish the raising levels of anxiety and depression. She believes that all behaviours of our children are messages; and that with genuine listening, care and understanding, and proper counselling and educational tools, the teachers and the parents will better support and encourage the children. All this so that our younger generations might fulfil their potential, build their happiness and live responsibly, respecting the environment and all forms of life.
In her spare time, Anka enjoys walking around Budapest, spends time with her family, and loves hiking in Transylvania. She likes to get lost in libraries and bookshops, meditates daily and enjoys watching old French movies.
