I am originally from the island town of Enniskillen in northern Ireland. After completing my undergraduate studies in Belfast, I moved to Newcastle in northeast England to obtain my teaching qualification. I have taught in England, Ireland and, for the past seven and a half years, Helsinki, Finland. I'm very excited to settle into Chicago and get to know the city. Of course, I am also very much looking forward to meeting the kids and staff of BISC-LP.
Outside of the classroom, I am a keen traveler. I love to explore new destinations, learn about different cultures, and meet interesting people. My most adventurous trip so far has been travelling through South America for two months with a little backpack, a camera, and not much else!
I believe in providing a safe, caring, and stimulating learning environment for young children. I create a space where each child’s individuality is celebrated. I work to encourage creative thinking, decision-making, and communication in young children while simultaneously providing challenging, but achievable, learning experiences. I aim to deliver an enthusiastic, flexible, and diverse approach to teaching. I truly value effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents. For me, this is key to providing a learning environment that enables each child to meet their full academic, social, and creative potential.
