News from Key Stage 2

Year 3 have had a busy and fun start to the new school year.

In Integrated Curriculum we have been learning about world rivers and river features. This has included researching different world rivers and producing work to make a fantastic display about these rivers, making labelled models of waterfalls and creating woollen river landscape pictures.

In Science we have learnt about the water cycle by making our own water cycles in bags and also carried out various activities to learn about light, including mirror writing and investigating how shadows change.

In English and Maths children have been working hard, with hands on activities and learning games making learning more enjoyable. The times tables board games have been a particular favourite!

Welcome to Year Four!

My name is Emperor Claudius.

This term, we are discovering information on warring Roman Britain. We have met Queen Boudicca and learned about Emperor Julius Caesar, and we are ready for gladiator school. Next week, we are going to relax and feast on a fancy Roman banquet. Through drama, comics, play scripts and crafts the children have really made this interesting subject come to life. By using engaging projects, the class have constructed shield analysed and recreated coins and written their own plays. We can't wait to continue our amazing learning journey this year.

After Golden Week, we shall focus on Science, with the Love To Investigate projects: did the Romans use toilet paper? and make our own Roman catapults!

The fight is on…

It’s been a wonderful start to Year 5 and the students have been exploring how they can grow and develop as learners over the course of this academic year and beyond!

The pupils have considered their best qualities and thought about appropriate goals that they would like to set for themselves.  They have also given thought to their responsibilities as students at BSN and learnt about the value of teamwork and active listening.  Following on from this, the students then wrote personal speeches to introduce themselves, which outlined all of the positive qualities and attitudes that they bring to our school.  Activities such as this are wonderful for teaching students to consider their own personal strengths and also how they can use their talents and attributes to make a significant contribution to their school as well as the wider community.
