We had a very exciting Integrated Curriculum topic this month: Bright Lights Big City. We began our topic comparing the city and the countryside. Most of us grew up in the city and did not know what a tractor was! We mistakenly thought that it was a vehicle you would use in the city! We also learned about Queen Elizabeth II and how she hosts tea parties in her beautiful Buckingham Palace. Why not follow her example? We had our own tea party in Year 1. We showed up in our finest. Some boys dressed up in tartan suits. Some girls even wore fascinators! We had such a grand time making our own sandwiches, eating them with lemon tea and playing card games. We wish every topic were like this—a party to remember!
In Maths this month, we learned to add and subtract within twenty. Knowing number bonds to 10 and 20 was crucial in these operations. We did number bonds to 10 and 20 activities every day this month to improve our number work. This is going to help us tremendously when we begin place value next term.
