Return of the Foxes

After a lengthy hiatus from activities it has been great to see the return of some of our Foxes sport teams over the last couple of months.

Our swimmers returned to the pool in mid-November and have been working hard to use this time to rebuild speed, strength and stamina whilst also further refining their stroke technique and understanding of stroke mechanics.

The recent new year saw us welcome a new group of students to both our core Foxes swim team and also a lucky group of talented swimmers from Year 3 and 4 who have joined our Fox Cub swimmers on Wednesdays’ afterschool. These new Foxes will be working hard over the coming weeks and months as they get ready to compete within the Shanghai Swim League!

We have also been involved in discussions with the Shanghai Swim League and we hope to enter our first ever virtual meet within the Shanghai Swim League next month. More details coming soon.

Our Year 6-9 Foxes football teams have seen fantastic numbers of students attending our after school practises, again with students working on skill development, tactics and building a sense of team whilst instilling a competitive spirit among students within sessions. Year 8 and 9 train on Mondays, Year 6 and 7 on Wednesday’s. There have been some memorable moments over the last few weeks and our young Foxes have been making some excellent progress, ironing out of some of the cobwebs that had developed during the enforced break from after school sport.

Due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic we are expecting restrictions to remain in place for an extended period of time which will continue to limit our ability to compete with other schools and travel, even around Nanjing. We have several inter-house competitions in the pipeline for the spring and hope that at some point restrictions may relax a little to allow us to compete within Nanjing.

In the meantime, our focus is on keeping the students engaged, maintaining fitness, enjoying sport, training as a team and developing students learning to ensure that when restrictions do eventually lift, we are ready and able to compete again!
