Thank you to all those who were able to attend our LanguageOne evening presentation. I hope parents found the session useful. Thank you to Monica Mansveld for organising this event. Also this week, Josef Wheldon, the school’s maths coordinator, met with parents to introduce RM Easiteach which is an interactive mathematics program used to engage and motivate children. It is important that the school and parents work together in order reinforce and extend learning.
After half term I plan to meet Class Representatives (Class Mums) to discuss the Class Representative role and how we can develop it further. It would also be a good forum for feedback and to let me know your thoughts. We will be in touch next week with a day and time.
Over the past two weeks I have had the opportunity to visit classrooms and spend time observing lessons. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the teachers and children in action and I’m happy to inform you that I have been more than reassured not only by the dedication of the teachers and learning assistants but also by the quality of teaching and learning.
Yesterday was Family Film Afternoon. It was wonderful to see children and parents from Early Years to Year 6 enjoying the film Zootropolis. Thank you to our industrious ‘Friends of Compass’ for organising this event.
Please remember that our Half Term break will fall on Thursday, 26 January. Following Half Term, it is our International week, when the children will find out more about other countries and cultures. Your child will need a costume which will be worn in school on Thursday, 9 February. The costume should reflect your child’s home country – please be as an imaginative as you like. If possible, no football strips please.
Next week, our Year 6 children will be traveling to Dubai in order to take part in an Ecoventure Camp. I hope our Year 6 children have a fantastic week and a memorable learning experience which will last a lifetime.
Have a relaxing weekend.
